Mary Enderby was the wife of Samuel Enderby Jnr. (1756-1829), who was the son of Samuel Enderby (1720-1797), founder of the whaling and sealing firm of Samuel Enderby & Sons. During the late eighteenth and early nineteenth century, Enderby vessels made profitable voyages to both northern and southern waters.
